Park City

After our short trip to St. George, we took another short trip to Park City the next day.
This time Owen stayed home with Grandma.
It was so fun spending time with Matt and just being by by ourselves again.
We even got to hold hands!

We stayed at The West Gate Hotel.
It was pretty nice for being free.
(We got it by signing up for a timeshare presentation,
but never actually showed up to it.)
We are sneaky.

The Westgate Hotel is up by The Canyons,
so when we first got there we went out and up the mountain and explored.
We went on a little hike,
rode the gondola,
went on another little hike,
and rode the gondola again.
By the end I was starving. . . and tired.
So we went back to the hotel, showered and accidentally fell asleep.
Once we woke up we went to Oishi Sushi.
It was pretty darn good.
The sushi was pretty inexpensive too.
I think it's like half off for the summer.
I recommend going there if you are ever in Park City and craving sushi.

We walked around Main street for a little
admiring all the expensive clothes.
Stopped at my new favorite ice cream place.
JAVA COW
How have I never heard about this place?
I want to go back right now.

We ended the night with a movie.
The Borne Legacy.
I love Jeremy Renner.

Summer isn't over yet.
There are still plenty of items I need to check off my Summer list.

We were originally supposed to stay 2 nights,
but we missed Owen so much we decided to go home early.
We woke up and ate at Wasatch Bagels.
Amazing!
I got a burger.
Yummm.

Why did we eat so much?

Swim, Eat, Swim Again, Eat Again, Repeat

Our St George Itinerary...
wake up
Eat
Swim
Layout
Swim again
Eat
Swim some more
Eat some more
Swim a little more
Ice Cream
Here are some edibles we put in our tummies. . .
Frei's Fruit Market
This place has THE best jam in the world.
Go get some
NOW.

JAM! Lots of it.

We stopped at this cute little bakery.
It had cupcakes.
The place was nice, but I probably wouldn't go back.
The cupcakes weren't amazing.
I could write an entire post on where to get amazing cupcakes,
but I'll save that for later.

Peanut Butter, Peach, Strawberry, Chocolate

The Pizza Factory!
Delicious!
It's funny how we have one in Salt Lake, but I've only had it once.

Owen figured out how to get free candy.
He would just wiggle the knobs on these candy dispensers
and candy would just spill out of them.
(He was taught how to steal at a very young age.)

Pepperoni & Ranch Chicken Pizza
We also went to Nelsons Frozen Custard, but didn't get great pictures.
It was about closing time for them when we got there
so they turned off most of their lights.
Who wants to remember some dim lit ice cream? Not I.
I think this means I have to go back during the day.
Don't mind if I do.

Riverside Walk

I've been wanting to get the most out of Summer possible,
so I suggested that we try and do a little hike up in Zion
once we got to St. George.
It was actually a walk.
Not much hiking was involved.
I didn't mind because it was glorious.
So Beautiful.
We did what was called the Riverside Walk.
There was a paved trail that just traced right along the river that we followed.
The walk took about an hour and a half to do
(I think. I wasn't really keeping track of time).
Once we got to the end we took off our shoes,
and dipped our gross dirty feet in the water.
It was refreshing.

Owen tripped and fell in the water. He was one happy boy once we took all of his clothes off.

The Ride to St George

On Sunday morning Matt and I (and the little one)
packed our bags for a short little get-a-way to St. George.
We brought along Matt's niece Isabelle to help us watch Owen.
I was dreading the car ride over.
We've never traveled with Owen during the day, and just knowing him and
how impatient he can get I was pretty nervous that the ride would consist of a
screaming baby and a massive headache.
I forgot that we had a DVD player in our car because
we've actually never really used it until now.
I brought along Toy Story and Megamind.
It worked wonders for the trip.
(Well that and Benedryl).
The only downside to it is I don't think I can ever watch Toy Story again.
I think we watched it about 5 times.
Once Owen was asleep I managed to get in a couple chapters of The Book Thief
I'm in the middle of the book and I have already fallen in love with it.

I have a couple more posts about my little get-a-way, and they will be posted soon.

Honey... I Made Bread

I am so domestic.
well let's be honest here.
I try my hardest to be domestic.
(I even started hang drying my towels outside)

For Christmas one year I demanded to get
a sewing machine and a Kitchen Aid mixer.
I didn't end up using the sewing machine for 4 years,
but I put the Kitchen Aid to good use the next day.

I love the memories I have when I was younger,
running around with my sisters,
coming home to eat my mom's homemade brownies
and BREAD.

My family would butter up the bread
and dip the entire slice into a cup of hot cocoa.
It sounds weird, but it was oh so good.

I thought I would try and save money and make a loaf of bread,
but ended up paying probably 4 times what I would have paid.

It ended up LOPSIDED.

I loved it though.

It tasted divine.

Summa Time

These past months I have been trying to soak in all
the time I have with my family. I was accepted into my program
which starts in a couple weeks and I will be full time from there.
I am excited about this opportunity, but also scared, sad, and confused.
Matt and I were planning on starting to try for another little one this
month if I didn't get into my program, but now that I have
been accepted we will now have to wait 2 more years.

I keep telling myself that this is a good thing.
But why am I so sad?
Everyone tells me that the time will fly by.
Let's hope so.

We've spent a lot of time together as a family this summer,
but we actually haven't really done anything.

We go on walks around the neighborhood.

We've been to Silver Lake once.

Watched a Bees Game.

Hogle Zoo.

Liberty Park.

For the rest of the summer I plan on going on more adventures.

I want to do a hike once a week.

Go Swimming.

Go on a picnic.

Watch more Bee's Games.

St George.

Park City.

The list can go on...

And So It Begins

I created this blog to start documenting and writing more about my thoughts and daily life. I haven't been so good on updating it, and feel like I should be writing down things that I wanted to remember. My son Owen is already 19 months and I feel I should have been documenting and writing more about him and how much he is learning and growing. Sadly there are so many things that I have forgotten, so many memories that are stored in the back of my mind that may only reappear with a random thought or smell. My personal goal is to update this blog and try to capture everything about my little one as much as possible. So this is where it begins... My summers have consisted of visiting my sister at the hospital. She has been having complications with her pregnancy and at 26 weeks was admitted into the hospital to be closely monitored. Owen comes along and loves it. It's his new favorite place. He loves running up and down the halls and yelling at the top of his lungs. One of his favorite things to do is push all the buttons on my sister's bed. The button that really calls his name though is the pink one with the cross on it. That one calls the nurse directly and he loves it. When we're at home he asks, "Puuushh Button?" Owen gets pretty bored at home, and he constantly wants to try new things. I took him to the zoo recently and he loved it! Sadly, I only took a couple pictures there, and they were on film. So, once I get the film developed I will post them up on here. Owen sat in the stroller almost all of the time and was just amazed at all the different "Aminals" there were. I'm thinking about getting a season pass to the zoo. My hubby Matt got me a Kindle Fire for Mother's Day and I have been indulging myself in so many books. I'm still torn though because I love having the actual book to read, but the Kindle version books are so much cheaper to purchase! At the moment I am reading The Innocent by David Baldacci. It's really good so far, and I think I will write a review on it once I'm done.
